The Artist

A Journey in Sound & Soul

Siniša Vlaisavljević — known as Sini — is an indie folk and world music artist of Balkan origin, splitting his time between Washington D.C., Valencia, Spain, and Bajina Bašta, Serbia.

It all started in Teslić. As a high school kid, he found his first stage with a band called Doria — and his first guitar chord courtesy of his now-godfather Goran, who taught him to play the only way that made sense for a lefty: upside-down, Hendrix-style. Those chords carried him to late-night beach parties along the Usora river, warm summer air and an audience that just wanted to feel something. It was enough to set everything in motion.

His musical worldview deepened in exile. Arriving in Paris as a refugee in the early nineties, he was drawn into the city’s beating cultural heart — the buskers and corridors of Châtelet and Les Halles, the vibrant Serbian community festivals that kept his roots alive even in displacement, and the irresistible rhythms of Martinique zouk — a genre from an island where he spent nearly a year — which wove themselves deep into his musical DNA. Suspended between worlds, Sini came to understand music as something that survives uprooting — a language without borders.

That vision carried him across the Atlantic. Through Maryland garage sessions with Daizy Haze from the late nineties into the early 2000s, the album Random Reflections took shape. Frequent returns to Herceg Novi and Belgrade brought his Serbian-language music to life, with internationally recognized producer Aleksandar Kobac mastering Probudi Se, and globally renowned DJ and Exit Festival mainstay Miloš Vučković — known as X-Twins / Soft85 / Milosh — weaving Brazilian funk deep into his sound.

After many years rooted in the U.S., Sini has spent the last few years back in the Balkans, working alongside fellow musicians and collaborators Shime and the crew — exploring new music technology and AI, and redefining his sound for a new era.

That journey finds its latest expression in Balkan Legao, released in April 2026. This remastered collection brings together old and new material, reimagined with fresh energy and a refined sound — moving seamlessly from Mediterranean grooves and Southern Rock to Brazilian samba and bossa nova, while maintaining a cohesive, emotional core. Most of the material is sung in Serbian, adding an authentic and deeply personal dimension to the sound, alongside reworked instrumental pieces that give new life to earlier compositions. The album features contributions from a constellation of collaborators: X-Twins on Goosle Samba and Good Morning Sunshine, Ema Milivojević on Toronto Downtown, Goran Dević on Probudi Se, Saša and Neven Cvetković on Balkan Legao, and Shime on Sevdah. A musical journey across cultures and time — remastered, revisited, and brought forward with a new perspective.
